Company Description
SABIC is a global leader in diversified chemicals headquartered in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It manufactures on a global scale in the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific, making distinctly different kinds of products: chemicals, commodity and high performance plastics, agri-nutrients and metals
Project Description
The production facility in Geleen, The Netherlands, is supplied with feedstock via our Antwerp, Belgium, terminal. Over the years the increased number of feedstock varieties and restrictions in the plant have led to a very complicated terminal situation. Where on daily basis discharge of new arriving ships is balanced with tank volume management and pumping of individual qualities or mix to our production facilities. Assuring that always the right quality and volume is available to run our production. As optimizations can be made in premixing, discharging and pumping it asks for an overall end-to-end optimization to enhance the current manual work.
Goals of the Project
Through better capacity planning improving the feedstock and production optimization.
Deliverables
A model to simulate and optimize tank operations.
Essential Student Knowledge
Multi-echelon planning & Linear Programming
