Project Description
The centralized strategy of MM includes decisions on central and urban hubs. Urban hubs can be used to reduce transport costs and time, however, often increase the warehousing and inventory costs. Therefore, finding the right balance between all cost components, as well as service level and customer satisfaction is key to a good strategy. Currently, the Netherlands has a single central Distribution Center (DC) and is using external cross-dock hubs to deliver the goods throughout the BeNeLux. The goal of the study is to identify potentials in improving the replenishment network by either converting cross-docks to stock locations, introducing owned transport vehicles, or relocating the central DC.
Goals of the Project
Identify potentials for improving the overall supply chain costs in terms of transport, inventory, warehousing, and customer experience. Multiple scenarios can lead to an informed decision, that has a robust solution for the future.
Deliverables
Possible scenarios, robustness analysis, cost impact, customer experience impact.
