Company Description

Caroz, founded in 2000, is a logistics and supply chain management company that specializes in providing innovative and efficient transportation solutions for businesses. It operates as a fourth-party logistics provider (4PL), meaning it serves as a strategic partner that integrates and manages all aspects of a company’s supply chain operations. This includes transportation, warehousing, procurement, and digital tools for enhanced visibility and optimization.

Caroz’s core strength lies in its use of advanced technology to create transparent and data-driven solutions, enabling businesses to streamline their logistics processes and reduce costs. The company collaborates closely with shippers and carriers to ensure optimal efficiency, sustainability, and alignment with client goals.

Project Description

The world around is rapidly changing and we see an increase in frequency and duration of unpredictable, rare, and high-impact occurrences (also known as black swan events). These black swan events can cause a huge impact on the supply chain of our customers. In those times customers are looking for a reliable partner, which can provide an overview of the impact of such events on their supply chain (e.g. increase lead times). By analysing those impacts we can then propose alternative solutions to our customer. The emphasis as such lies in modelling and understand the impact of these black swan events, rather than predicting them (which is nearly impossible).

Goals of the Project

  • We would like to better understand what type of events can potentially cause which disruptions and what can be potential consequences of these disruptions on the supply chain of our customers in order to allow Caroz to act in a quick way on those occurrences and propose pro-actively alternative solutions.

Deliverables

  • The aim is to work out a model which can identify the consequences of a black swan event (upon his occurrence) and the impact of those consequences on our customer’s supply chain.
