Company Description

NXP Semiconductors designs, develops, and manufactures semiconductors for a wide range of applications. Most notably NXP is the market leader in semiconductors for the automotive industry. The company has over 30.000 employees and operations span the entire globe (over 30 countries).

Project Description

The semiconductor manufacturing industry faces challenges such as the ongoing trend of integrated circuits (ICs) decreasing in size and increasing in complexity. When dealing with more complex products the risk of failures is higher and more time is needed to find the root causes of these failures. As Total Quality is a strategic priority at NXP semiconductors, this project will focus on quality control in a multi-stage manufacturing environment. The goal is to leverage data more effectively to enable the prediction and prevention of product failures and to contribute to the Zero-Defect Manufacturing concept.

Goals of the Project

  • Perform a data analysis to determine the impact of several parameters at different manufacturing stages on product quality.
  • Build a quality prediction model that updates the prediction during the manufacturing process.

Deliverables

  • Literature Review.
  • Identification of critical parameters at different manufacturing stages.
  • Prediction model considering several upstream and downstream parameters.
  • Recommendation how to improve operational decision-making using the quality prediction model.
