Company Description
Van den Bosch is an international logistics service provider located in Erp, The Netherlands. They aim to drive sustainable and reliable change in the supply chain through intelligence and innovation. More than 80% of all their transport is performed by means of intermodal transport. They believe that logistics is not just about transport, but also about data, insights and know-how. They are constantly trying to drive change within the sector, which is why they are known as “The Supply Changer in Bulk”.
Project Description
Project description:
A significant part of the costs of an intermodal transport company consists of costs for empty repositioning and empty storage costs. We would like you to create an order forecast and create a simulation model based on this forecast to determine the optimal safety stock levels per region per container type and the optimal reposition actions.
Goals of the project:
Minimize the expected storage and reposition costs by:
- Creating an order forecast
- Creating a simulation model to determine the optimal safety stock levels
- Creating a model to determine the optimal reposition actions
Deliverables:
- An order forecast
- Simulation model to determine optimal safety stock levels
- Model to determine the optimal reposition actions
