    Project Description

    Project description:

Within Shimano we want to improve the management of our stock levels & product availability. Improving the forecast is key to make this happen. In this project we want to challenge a student to come up with forecast improvement(s) and subsequently test via business simulation if this beats the as-is forecast method we use. With improvements you can think of using a different forecast aggregation level (total level, warehouse level, sales office or even product level) or replacing human interference with system generated forecast.

    Goals of the project:

    • Identify forecast improvements
    • Simulate the forecast improvements vs the as-is forecast method
    • Recommendations how to (1) improve our forecast (2) predict the impact on inventory

    Deliverables:

    • Scope
    • Analysis of situation as-is
    • Define forecast improvement suggestions
    • Measure forecast improvements by simulations
    • Potential impact on inventory
    • Recommendations

    Essential student knowledge:

    • Being able to deal with lots of data & Python
    • Outgoing – Not afraid to have interviews with different stakeholders across the company
    • Organized – Good planning skills
    • Curious
