Project Description
Project description:
Within Shimano we want to improve the management of our stock levels & product availability. Improving the forecast is key to make this happen. In this project we want to challenge a student to come up with forecast improvement(s) and subsequently test via business simulation if this beats the as-is forecast method we use. With improvements you can think of using a different forecast aggregation level (total level, warehouse level, sales office or even product level) or replacing human interference with system generated forecast.
Goals of the project:
- Identify forecast improvements
- Simulate the forecast improvements vs the as-is forecast method
- Recommendations how to (1) improve our forecast (2) predict the impact on inventory
Deliverables:
- Scope
- Analysis of situation as-is
- Define forecast improvement suggestions
- Measure forecast improvements by simulations
- Potential impact on inventory
- Recommendations
Essential student knowledge:
- Being able to deal with lots of data & Python
- Outgoing – Not afraid to have interviews with different stakeholders across the company
- Organized – Good planning skills
- Curious
