Company Description
Van den Bosch is an international logistics service provider located in Erp, The Netherlands. They aim to drive sustainable and reliable change in the supply chain through intelligence and innovation. More than 80% of all their transport is performed by means of intermodal transport. They believe that logistics is not just about transport, but also about data, insights and know-how. They are constantly trying to drive change within the sector, which is why they are known as “The Supply Changer in Bulk”.
Project Description
Project description:
The drivers and trucks of Van den Bosch are mostly working in the Netherlands, Belgium, the western part of Germany and the northern part of France. Most routes start with mounting a full container at a terminal, drive to the unload location, continue to a cleaning station, go to the next load location and finish the route with a dismount at a terminal.
At the moment we have a mix of drivers with different nationalities. The drivers cost depend on their nationality. A foreign driver is not allowed to work full time in the same other country, so a German driver is not allowed to work full time in the Netherlands. We would like you to investigate whether our current driver nationalities mix is still the best one.
Most drivers work in shifts of for example 2 weeks working, 1 week off. At the end of the shift the driver steps out and another driver steps in the truck to start a new shift. At the moment we have a few locations where the drivers step in and out. We would like you to investigate whether these locations are still the best locations to switch drivers.
Goals of the project:
Determine whether our driver nationalities mix is the best possible mix for our company.
Determine whether the step in/out locations of our drivers are still the best locations for our company.
