Project Description
Project description:
We calculate hundreds of quotes every week. At the moment we calculate these quotes by simulating the planning including the orders of these quotes. In this way we can calculate the costs quite accurately, but the number of quotes we can calculate per hour are quite low.
A small number of these quotes are awarded, and an even smaller number of quotes lead to at least one order.
We would like to decrease the number of quotes we process, without a decrease of turnover.
Goals of the project:
Decrease the required amount of time to calculate a quote. Try to give a good estimation of the costs for a quote, without ‘planning’ the quote.
Determine whether it is likely that a quote will lead to orders, so we can decrease the number of processed quotes without decreasing the turnover.
Deliverables:
- Algorithm that estimates the costs of a quote quite accurately.
- Algorithm that determines the probability that a quote will lead to an order.
- (For the quotes that are worthwhile to process, we would like to estimate the ‘winning’ probability per quote per price.)
Essential student knowledge:
Integer Programming/Algorithms
