Project Description

Exploring, modelling and advising on the circularity options and possibilities across all material flows within the business unit warehousing.

Goals of the Project

  • Create a high-level model to compare the material flow categories “customer product”, “load carriers”, “operational consumables”, “waste” and “hardware”. The comparison criteria could contain (but are not limited to): (1) need for collaboration, (2) usage frequency, (3) simplicity of the operational, (4) overall emission/environmental savings (5) ease of implementation.

Deliverables

The output from the comparison model will form the basis of the advice on what areas seem to be most promising. The model should be set-up in such a way that it can be re-used for any of our branches. The end-result should also contain the description, goal formulation and deliverables for the follow-up Master-thesis (e.g. pilot-project on a selected circular-area).

Essential Student Knowledge

  • Given the academic background, there’s no additional essential knowledge. It’s the Mainfreight can-do mindset and hands-on and proactive mentality that is essential.
