Resilience (in Dutch weerbaarheid) and agility (in Dutch wendbaarheid) perhaps sound the same but in practice are not.
Agility is a crucial capability of Resilience which enables your supply chain not only to become more robust (weerbaar in Dutch), but also allows you to bounce back even stronger after a disruption by creating business opportunities.
With Robustness the focus is more on risk management while agility the focus is more on entrepreneurship.
In a VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity) business environment with the number of disruptions ever increasing investing in Resilience is more important than ever.
Together with the Dutch Shipper Association (evofenedex) and our academic research we want to test/discuss our tools based on practical cases.
At TU/e we develop digital platforms and policy guidelines to design and models for agile companies in resilient networks. These tools provide decision makers with concrete actions to prevent some level of shocks, rapid response to disruptions, and guidelines on how to recover and adapt the organization.
During the masterclass, we will cover the following topics:
Block 1 — What resilience is
Block 2 — Business & operating models: risk management versus creating business opportunities
Block 3 — KPIs for resilience (beyond reporting)
Block 4 — Quantitative methods: optimization, AI, and digital twins
Block 5 — Humans & governance (the control system)
In the Masterclass theoretical foundations, latest research and insights and practical tools will be discussed.
On 10 February there will be a Workshop about Resilience where Business meets Business.
