Human drive supply chains
Over the past years, an increased focus on technology like Artificial Intelligence (AI) for automated planning (in supply chain and logistics) lead to the (mis)belief that supply chains are moving to a world without any humans. McKinsey (2018) coined the notion of no-touch planning, aiming to eliminate the role of humans as people only add error (as compared to a completely data-driven planning process). Processes within supply chain and logistics environments are highly complex, interdependent, and intertwined. Humans are in the lead, and technology should empower them. The ESCF annual conference will discuss this theme in great detail, combining interesting speakers and breakouts.
