Supporting the Operational Planning of Spare Parts at ASML

Concise summary of this Operations Practice ASML continuously develops new systems and upgrades for existing systems, which lead to modified and improved versions of individual parts. The resulting engineering changes have to be taken into account within the planning of the spare parts stock in the after sales service network. Eindhoven University of Technology developed a planning support tool together with ASML planners that aligns the tactical planning and operational planning level for spare parts. This planning support tool visualizes the supply chain, and offers the planners the right overview to coordinate their actions. The new way of working leads to a higher service level, lower inventory holding costs and a more efficient planning process.
