Collaboration in Complex Supply Chains: Perspectives, Myths, and Truths

21 November, 2017 - 13:30 to 19:30
Eindhoven University of Technology

Effective collaboration (between company departments, but also with clients, suppliers, subcontractors) forms the backbone of a profitable supply chain. Successful liaisons are hard to achieve when there is conflict of interest, distrust and poor communication. The question is how we can build long lasting, sustainable relationships based on mutual trust and commitment. In this workshop, we will explore the possibilities of building cooperative rather than competitive relationships in complex supply chains, addressing both benefits and challenges of such endeavors. We will address the following issues:
-       Cooperation: What’s in it for me?
-       What is trust, and why is it so important?
-       Collaborating with competitors: is that actually possible? What leadership styles and management practices would support this ambition? How to manage collective ambitions, open communication, and information sharing? How to avoid expediency?
-       And what if a conflict happens anyway? Go to court or can we find a solution ourselves? And does that necessarily mean the end of the relationship?
The workshop will involve a mix of interactive discussions, theoretical insights, and practical applications to inspire and support your personal efforts in building mutually profitable business relationships.
